CURUFC Sevens make Plate Final of Bury St.Edmunds
The CURUFC Sevens team performed with distinction after a shakey sunday morning chaos that saw the Blue struggle to assemble a team to travel to the tournament. After a few SOS calls the team set off. In Pool Play, the signs were not good wth 2 solid losses against eventual Cup Finalists the Welsh Warriors 15-12 and and EliteID before beating the Pork Sworders in a gusty display with only 6 players as Pinto took a 10 min rest in te sin bin. The Blues progressed to the plate semi where they beat Latvia 21-19. The highlight being a touchline conversion by blues hooker Waisale Pinto - the newly crowned King of Sevens. The Blues finally lost in the final to Kamikaze, 42-12. For a make shift side that didn't even look like leaving Grange Road it was a good turnaround to the day. The Team was Pat Crossley, Jamie Hood, Sandy Reid, Ben Martin, James greenwood, Tom Stanton and Chris Lewis (Blue 06,07,08) who drove from Oxford to Bury to play. CURUFC is also indebted to a numbr of Bury St Edmunds players Charlie, Brad, Fabio, Adam and Stewart.
