Cambridge's six new starting Blues - Simon Davies, Dave Spelman, Jamie Roberts, Ian Nagle, James Kilroe and Oliver Clough
Don Stevens has named his squad for the 134th Varsity Match on Thursday 10th December at 2.30pm.
Stevens will captain the side from his favourite position of scrum half having featured at No 10 in the last two Varsity Matches. The 28-year-old former Stellenbosch University player is hoping it will be third time lucky for him at Twickenham after lasting only 30 minutes in 2013 before dislocating his shoulder and then 42 minutes last year before rupturing knee ligaments.
“We’re not looking back at last year or what has happened before because there is nothing we can do to change that. What we want to do is get out of the blocks early and then stick to our game plan.
“It’s great having senior players like Jamie Roberts and Ian Nagle coming into the side and I’m sure their experience will help in the build-up to the game and on the day itself.
“We are a family, a good team and we will stick together to the end.
“This is an exciting time for all of us and the fact we will have had two weeks preparation for Twickenham following our win over the Steele-Bodgers XV is great for us. These are two weeks that will stay with us for the rest of our lives.”
