The CURUFC Tigers fell to a hard fought defeat (10-22) in a competitive and spirited encounter. The team was full of commitment and heart, defending extremely well for long periods and scoring two well worked tries via Sophie Lamont (Corpus Christi) and Elisa Goddard (Pembroke). The team were offered strong leadership by inside centre Karen Valland (St John's), particularly in defence, while flyhalf Sibella Egerton (Gonville & Caius) demonstrated an impressive kicking game throughout the course of the encounter. Ultimately, the Tigers were just slightly lacking in a cutting edge in attack and they struggled to escape their own half for long periods of the first half. The OURFC Panthers ultimately deserved the win as they were able to find space more easily in the wider channels through slick handling and direct running. However, the effort and commitment of the CURUFC Tigers cannot be faulted and we look forward to seeing many of these women in action for the club next season.
